Characteristics and extra information: When born, Rua was coloured from near-white pale legs to bright red topline and hairs, and was even thought to be blind due to his eyes being very light blue (though a blue-eyed foal was a given from Keeva). Nicknamed Rua (meaning fox-like red in irish), it was clear from the start that he would grow up to be very tall with a solid frame, and the noble way he carried himself around other foals affected his given name quite a lot. The theme of his mothers, Keevas, irish name tradition would be continued and with some searching, Ruaidrí was chosen. It means red(-haired) king and fits this noble-minded, tall colt well. He takes a lot after Keeva, who is rather boisterous and loud, and often likes to stick her nose where it doesn't belong.

A more famed man with the same name is Findláech mac Ruaidrí, who was the father of Macbeth, though we hope Rua will not meet such an unfortunate end, but will live a long, happy life at NVS. So far he has shown great potential for dressage prospect, due to his heavier built. More to come as Rua ages.
